The second night of the final round of Champions League matches come on Wednesday and Will has found three matches where he expects three goals or more to be scored.
Bayern Munich vs. BATE – Wednesday 5th December, 7.45pm – 2/7
Bayern Munich will provide us with 3 goals or more as they seek to claim a place in the top pot in the Champions League draw this Friday. They are currently level on points with Valencia and although goal difference won’t matter in this group (head to head results come before goals in this stage of the tournament) they will still look to make sure the job is done comprehensively against BATE. With 51 goals scored in 20 games so far this season, Bayern look in as good attacking shape as they’ve ever been, and although BATE managed to upset them earlier in the competition, that won’t happen in Munich, where Bayern will cruise to a victory with plenty of goals.
Braga vs. Galatasaray – Wednesday 5th December, 7.45pm – 10/11
After facing Manchester United’s youngsters last week, Galatasaray will be aware that they will need to be sure of a result against Braga to stop Cluj nicking the last qualification spot from them. Galatasary and Cluj sit on level points in the group and but the Turkish side sit above them due to results. But with a United side only MUTV subscribers will recognise the names of likely to be fielded for Cluj to take on, Galatasaray will need to make sure they take all 3 points in Portugal, and the only way to do that is goals. Galatasaray have found goals hard to come by in this competition, only scoring 5, but a Braga defence that has been poor so far this tournament (conceding 11 in 5) should help Aslanlar overcome this issue and seal their spot in the next round.
Lille vs. Valencia – Wednesday 5th December, 7.45pm – 4/5
As much as Bayern Munich will be going for goals to secure their place in the next round, so too will Valencia. The position is a little different for Valencia, they need Bayern to slip up for a shot at top spot, and seeing as their final place in the group is out of their hand, the best they can do is win emphatically and hope for the best. Valencia have found goals in this year’s competition, putting 11 past their opponents in 5, only 7 goals behind their La Liga total despite playing a third of the games showing they much prefer the continental competition for scoring. Lille are bottom of the group and abysmal at home and seem to have no real chance of a Europa Leaue parachute, (needing 3 points, a BATE loss and to recover 5 goals in the process of those 2 results) giving us all the right components of over 2.5 goals in this tie.
