The first of Sunday’s live Premier League matches will be beamed from the Stadium of Light as The Mackem’s take on local rivals the Magpies.

Sunderland can be backed for the win at 13/8 (Bet Victor) while rivals Newcastle are 2/1 with various bookies and the draw is 23/10 with Bet365.

Sunderland have the chance to leapfrog Newcastle in the table with a win on Saturday but won’t find it easy in what should be a ‘rough and tumble’ encounter against Newcastle. Pardew’s Magpie’s are currently sitting in 10th but will hope to break into the top half sooner rather than later in order to maintain their push for another European campaign.

This game has goals and cards written all over it. Newcastle’s Demba Ba has recaptured his form this season and is currently the League’s top scorer with 6 goals, whilst Sunderland’s new signing Steven Fletcher is in 2nd place with 5 goals. Many people questioned Fletcher’s £14 million price-tag but he’s started like a house on fire and can be backed to score first at 6/1 with Coral, Demba Ba is also a best priced 6/1 to score first, again with Coral.

The Tyne-Wear Derby is as passionate as any and with the likes of Tiote and Bardsley on the pitch there is a strong chance of cards. At the time of writing not all card markets are available but before Kick Off check the odds on Tiote and Bardsley to be carded.

Over 2.5 goals is 11/10 with Bet Victor and looks a very tempting bet, as far as the result goes I’m weary of predicting that in any Derby, ‘the form book goes out the window’ as they say, and in this case it would be hard to call even with the form book! Therefore I’m steering clear of any betting on the result and sticking with what will hopefully be profitable markets.
