Although Tottenham Hotspur have begun the 2016/17 domestic campaign in relatively successful fashion so far this season, the trials and tribulations of the Premier League have nonetheless proven rather troubling for one particular Spurs striker down at White Hart Lane.
Vincent Janssen, a 22-year-old Netherlands international who signed from AZ Alkmaar this summer, has admittedly failed to set the English top-flight alight with Spurs this term – despite initially arriving in North London with a relatively impressive goal-scoring reputation from the Dutch Eredivisie.
Although some Spurs watchers have nonetheless seen fit to jump to the Dutchman’s aid in recent weeks…
Seen @vincentjanssen play a few times. Great work ethic and no doubts he'll start getting the goals too. Could be key this season. #COYS

…the vast majority of Premier League onlookers have ultimately been left less than impressed by Janssen’s output thus far…
Vincent janssen should never start for spurs again

He has seemingly failed to find his feet among the English top-flight with the January transfer window already fast approaching…
Feel a bit sorry for Vincent Janssen. He simply tries too hard. Should not overwork every situation and it will pay off eventually. #spurs

…and whilst he may not be the only high profile front-man failing to adapt to the Premier League this term…
Simone Zaza and Vincent Janssen on the same pitch today in a Premier League fixture.. Think there's still hope that I make it yet?

…Vincent Janssen ultimately has a great deal of work to carry out in order to fully implement himself within Mauricio Pochettino’s first team plans…
What's the point of Vincent Janssen? Bloke's rubbish.

Then again, several other top-flight Premier League teams are seemingly struggling to find their most potent goal-scoring form in 2016/17…
First tweet ever to compare Vincent Janssen to Zlatan. Both strikers' teams play better when they are OUT of the side

…but although the White Hart Lane faithful may indeed need to employ a little collective patience when it comes to the fate of their club’s recently sourced striker…
Vincent Janssen got so much flack with Kane out. Where are all the Kane critics? Been worse than Janssen, considering expectations #thfc
— Alex Moretto (@alexjmoretto) November 22, 2016
…it remains to be seen whether or not Vincent Janssen really has what it takes to truly cut it among the Premier League…
Losing 2-1 and bringing on Vincent Janssen is like Charlie Sheen giving blood to a dying child.
— CoysGeorge (@CoysGeorge) November 22, 2016
…even if the Dutchman does admittedly seem to be working hard on improving his current form right in the here and now…
Watching Vincent Janssen in the last 15 minutes there was like watching the Penguin video. Poor guy is trying so hard.
