Sunderland vs Hull Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Sunderland vs Hull betting tips and predictions for this weekend’s Premier League match with an anytime goalscorer and reasons for each of our tipsters’ bets.

Sunderland face Hull at the Stadium of Light on Saturday and this is arguably the biggest game of the weekend considering where the two sides are sitting in the table at the moment. Here are three tips for the relegation six pointer.

Sunderland got their first win of the season when they beat Bournemouth last time out in the Premier League and this was even more impressive considering that they were playing with ten men for over a third of the game and it will give the Black Cats some much needed confidence on the run up to Christmas. Jermain Defoe scored the winner in that game two weeks ago and with him in their side they have a player who will score 10+ goals every season and there’s no doubt about that and this will give them a fighting chance of staying in the top flight. I believe that the major issue is their defence and this shows as they have failed to keep a clean sheet all seasonSsome of their defenders aren’t Premier League quality and this will have to be looked at in the January transfer window or I can only see one outcome and that is relegation.

As for Hull, they got an unexpected win against Southampton before the international break and won 2-1 even though they were outplayed for most of the match. A three minute spell where Robert Snodgrass and Michael Dawson both found the net changed the game and the win lifted them to within a point of the teams above them. I think every man and his dog predicted that Hull would go down at the start of the season with the uncertainty of the manager and lack of players that they have bought in but Mike Phelan has enough experience to deal with this and have four games in a row against the teams around them coming up and will know that they will have to pick up a few points if they are going to stay up.

Sunderland vs Hull Predictions

My first Sunderland vs Hull betting tip is going to be in the both teams to score no draw market. This means both teams have to score and either team can win. I think both teams will score with both teams being so poor defensively and with it being such a big game down at the bottom, they will both want the win and I do think there will be a winner. Both teams to score and no draw is 2/1 at William Hill.

My second Sunderland vs Hull prediction for this weekend is going to be in the cards market and this has been very profitable to me in recent weeks so I’m hoping it continues here.  I think there will be over 45 match booking points (10 for a yellow and 25 for a red) This would have landed in over half of both teams last five games and with it being such a critical match I can see the tackles flying in from everywhere and the referee producing quite a few cards. The odds for this are 13/8 and this can also be found at William Hill.

Anytime Goalscorer Tips

My third Sunderland vs Hull prediction for the Premier League is going to be an outrageous anytime goal scorer shout. Patrick Van Aanholt is one of Sunderland’s best attacking players and often pops up with a goal at the Stadium of Light. He scored earlier on in the season against Middlesbrough and I fancy him to pop up again here and he is 13/2 to do so at Bet365.

Sunderland v Hull Team News

Sunderland will give late fitness tests to Paddy Mcnair and Jack Rodwell to see if they are ready for the game on Saturday. Fabio Borini will definitely miss out as he recovers from a groin injury. Summer signing Will Keane will miss the rest of the season after picking up an injury against Southampton and fellow striker Abel Hernandez will also be missing after suffering a groin strain in that match.

Head to Head Stats

These sides have met on a few occasions in the past few years and the situation always seems to be the same with both sides trying to fight relegation. Hull have actually won their last two visits to the Stadium of Light and are unbeaten in five against them and this will give them confidence going into Saturday’s game.

Sunderland vs Hull Betting Odds

Sunderland are favourites for this match and are 6/5 with BetVictor for the win. The draw is 12/5 at Betfred and Hull are best priced 11/4 for the win with Ladbrokes and this looks very overpriced when you look at Hull’s recent record at the Stadium of Light. The one real goal scorer on show Jermain Defoe is 4/1 to open the scoring with Coral but Duncan Watmore scored an impressive chip midweek for England’s u21’s and he is 9/1 to open the scoring with William Hill.
