Besiktas vs Napoli
Our opening selection takes us to Turkey as Besiktas face off against Napoli at the slightly earlier time of 17:45. I still haven’t quite forgiven the visitors for trashing my Champions League accumulator a fortnight ago as they conspired to miss a dozen chances, and even a second half penalty on their way to a 3-2 home defeat to tonight’s opponents. Nevertheless, this appears to be par for the course for the Italian side, as for all their attacking talent, Napoli are really struggling to keep a clean sheet at the moment and have recorded BTTS results in every one of their Champions League games to date. Although I would be surprised if Tuesday’s clash was as open as their last encounter, Besiktas have also maintained a 100% record for BTTS so far in Europe this year and I fancy this match to keep that run going for at least another week longer.
PSV vs Bayern Munich
The second choice from tonight’s set of matches comes from Eindhoven as PSV host Bayern Munich at 19:45. These two sides met a fortnight ago with the Germans absolutely dominating on their way to a comprehensive 4-1 victory. Nevertheless, PSV did have a few chances on that occasion and could have easily scored more than the one goal they eventually left the Alianz Arena with. Considering Atletico Madrid currently lead the group on a flawless nine points, the hosts simply have to beat Bayern on Tuesday night if they are harbouring any ambitions of making the knockout stages, and I feel that could make for another entertaining game once again. Therefore, stick this fixture down as the next on the BTTS tip.
Bristol Rovers vs Fleetwood
The final leg for tonight’s football tip sends us to League One as Bristol Rovers host Fleetwood at 19:45. Both sides head into their midweek clash in slightly mixed form, but do have some highly encouraging BTTS statistics between them nonetheless. Rovers currently sit second in the League One charts for both teams scoring at a massive 87% so far this campaign. However, this figure actually rises to 100% whilst the hosts are at the Memorial Stadium, which needless to say, is very encouraging ahead of our bet this week. Unsurprisingly, Fleetwood can’t quite live up to those numbers but do still boast a 67% ratio for both teams finding the net this year, and that would be more than enough to lead many a BTTS table around Europe at the moment. With all that being said, this looks an excellent place to finish on Tuesday evening.
