They comfortably beat Reading 2-0 on Tuesday night and this was with most their key players rested and this shows what a strong squad they have this season. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will actually have a successful season or whether it will be the same as the last few years and they stumble into the top four after they crumble in February/March but the fans are quietly optimistic. I think there is no doubt that the gunners have the quality to win the league but there are major question marks over their attitude and mental strength over a whole season. However, at this moment in time they are looking very strong and it will be a major shock if David Moyes’ men pick up their first three points here.

Sunderland are missing quite a few key players at the moment including Lee Cattermole, Fabio Borini and Jan Kirchhoff who would all normally get into the starting eleven. One positive is the potential return of Adnan Januzaj who could be fit enough to make the bench on Saturday. Santi Carzola missed the 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough last week with an injury and will have a late fitness test to determine if he is ready here. Oliver Giroud made his comeback in midweek and will be hoping for a place on the bench at the weekend.
