Football Accumulator Tips 17th September
Hull to draw with Arsenal
Arsenal were rather fortunate to claim a 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain in midweek with ‘keeper David Ospina arguably their star player while they also needed an added time converted penalty to earn all three points in a 2-1 Premier League home win against Southampton last weekend. Hosts Hull secured a deserved draw at Burnley with a late goal on Saturday after conceding an added time winner when losing to Manchester United at the KCOM Stadium. The Tigers have silenced a few doubters this term and could share the points with the Gunners.
Brighton to beat Burton
Burton are unbeaten in five league matches but needed a very late equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw at Wolves and were generally outplayed by Fulham in midweek before earning another 1-1 draw. Visitors Brighton ended a sequence of two successive 2-0 defeats by beating league leaders Huddersfield 1-0 in midweek with Anthony Knockaert opening the scoring for the third time this season. The Seagulls have registered four clean sheets in league action this term and could secure a first away victory of their Championship campaign.
Blackburn to beat Rotherham
Blackburn have yet to win a league game or register a clean sheet this term but there has been evidence of more recent reliability in defence with just four goals conceded in their three previous games. Rovers were also arguably unfortunate to be beaten by single goal margins when playing Fulham and Leeds. Rotherham will visit Blackburn having conceded at least twice in every league game this season apart from a 1-0 home win against Brentford when the Bees were the better team. The Millers have conceded ten goals and scored none in three away matches and may lose another game on the road.
Coventry to beat Oldham
Coventry have yet to win a league match this season but they have faced difficult opposition in recent weeks having played five of the current top eight teams. The Sky Blues earned a creditable 1-1 draw at Millwall last weekend and were leading unbeaten Bradford until defender Jordan Turnbull was dismissed. Opponents Oldham claimed a useful 1-0 win at Bury but that remains their only league victory this term and they have failed to beat Shrewsbury and Chesterfield in their latest games at Boundary Park. A first victory for Coventry is envisaged.
Plymouth to beat Exeter
After a slow start to the League Two season during which they lost their opening two matches without scoring a goal, Plymouth have won their latest five league matches although all but one of those victories has been earned via a one goal winning margin. The Pilgrims will travel the short distance to Exeter where the home team have lost all three home games this term via one clear goal although they have won twice on the road. Promotion rivals Portsmouth were the latest team to win at St James Park and Plymouth could follow their example with a narrow victory.
