West Brom have 3 points from their opening two games of this season, a 0-1 win away at Crystal palace and a 1-2 defeat at home to Everton. In my opinion they have had a poor transfer window although to be fair to Tony Pulis he is on a working on a limited budget at the Hawthorns and is only charged with the task of maintaining the top flight status of the team which he is an expert at. Having never been relegated as a player or manager, they have bought in Matt Phillips who on his day can score goals in the Premier League as he showed with his time at QPR. He is however by no means a player that will bring them up to the next level, they have also bought in Brendan Galloway on loan from Everton but again he is a youthful player who will not improve the team greatly at this point in time.

Middlesbrough have 4 points from their opening two games of this season, a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City and a 1-2 away win at Sunderland. In my opinion Boro have had one of the best summers in terms of the transfer window within the Premier League. For a team that has just been promoted from the Championship they have managed to convince a very high calibre of player to join their survival fight, these include Ex-Barcelona and Spain Keeper Victor Valdes, young promising Colombian centre back Bernardo Espinosa from Sporting Gijon, Gaston Ramirez from Southampton, very highly rated Danish winger Viktor Fischer from Ajax and Ex-Manchester City goal scorer Alvaro Negredo on Loan from Valencia. All these players were brought in by Aitor Karanka who having guided Boro back to the Premier League has now built a formidable squad which in my opinion will easily survive and which will gain another three points at the Hawthorns.
