Norwich v Bristol City – Norwich to win BTTS
We’re kicking things off at Carrow Road as Norwich entertain Bristol City. The Canaries have begun life in the Championship fairly smoothly having taken four points from their opening two matches. Although Alex Neil’s side did play out a truly horrid spectacle against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, their opening day thrashing of Blackburn at Ewood Park shows they have plenty of goals in them on their day. Opponents Bristol City have also started the season well following back to back 2-1 wins and will be looking to build on a slightly disappointing 18th place finish last year. However, City did struggle against a lot of the bigger sides in the league last campaign, and considering Norwich have dropped down from the Premiership and their last two opponents (Wigan and Burton) were promoted from League One, I would read too much into their early form. Chalk this one down as a BTTS for Norwich to open this week’s both teams to score and win tip.
Gillingham v Swindon – Gillingham to win BTTS
Our second choice for this midweek football tip comes from a division down a Gillingham take on Swindon Town at The Priestfield. The hosts have begun the season in excellent fashion following two straight BTTS victories that have seen them take an early place at the top of the table. For those that remember, The Gills actually started last campaign in fine form but totally fell to pieces after Christmas and ended up finishing a disappointing 9th place. However, they did record 10 BTTS victories over the course of that season, as well as having the fourth highest ratio for BTTS results in the whole division. Their opposition comes in the form of Swindon and they head to town off the back of a 3-1 away defeat at Chesterfield at the weekend. The Robins also had an underwhelming season last time out considering they made the playoffs the year before, but like their hosts, did sit in the top six sides in the league for BTTS results. I’m fairly confident we’ll see both teams finding the net in this one, but considering their decent start to the season, I fancy the points to go Gillingham’s way come the final whistle.
Luton Town v Newport County – Luton to win BTTS
The anchor leg in this Tuesday’s both teams to score and win tip features one of the weekend’s let-downs Luton as they welcome Newport to Kenilworth Road. Following their opening day victory over Plymouth and 3-1 disposal of Aston Villa in the League Cup, I can imagine The Hatters crushed a few accumulators this weekend after drawing 1-1 at home to Yeovil on Saturday. For this particular bet in particular they cost us a 10/1 double in our Trixie, but the signs are there that Luton could be a decent shout in this market over the course of the season. Opponents Newport do head into the clash buoyed from an excellent 1-0 victory away at Leyton Orient, which needless to say, was yet another coupon buster on Saturday. The Exiles had a dreadful campaign over 2015/16, though and would have probably been relegated in most other seasons had York and Dagenham not performed so poorly themselves. However, three goals from their opening two matches certainly suggests they may be more than capable of finding a way past Luton on Tuesday. With this in mind, back the hosts to win with both teams scoring.
