Both Teams to Score Tips Sunday
Groningen v Feyenoord
Our opening selection for this weekend’s BTTS tip is the first of two matches from the Dutch Eredivisie, and a potentially entertaining encounter between Groningen and Feyenoord. Holland’s top flight proved to be a particularly fruitful source for BTTS matches last year with 14 of the 18 teams all having a strike-rate of over 50%. Of those sides, both Groningen and Feyenoord were from the ‘over’ bracket and both of the games between the two sides finished via a BTTS outcome last season. In addition to these facts, Feyenoord also had the second highest ratio for BTTS results away from home at a massive 71%, so I would be very surprised if this fixture doesn’t get us off to a winning start.
AZ Alkmaar v Heerenveen
As mentioned above, the second addition to the BTTS coupon is another Dutch affair as AZ Alkmaar entertain Heerenveen at 13:30pm. Both of these sides were tied second last season for BTTS results at a highly-encouraging 65%. On top of this, the hosts’ last seven games of the season all finished with over 2.5 goals and both teams finding the net. The visitors, Heerenveen weren’t too far behind that themselves and six of their final eight results finished with a BTTS result as well. If this is not enough to persuade you, though, the two results between the sides last season finished 3-1 and 4-2. This match looks an absolute banker in the market.
Austria Vienna v Rapid Vienna
Our penultimate match takes us to the Austrian Bundesliga of all places and the Vienna Derby between first and third. Although the current campaign is only a couple of games old, I already have a rough idea what to expect from the hosts this season. Austria Vienna topped the charts for BTTS matches at home last year with 67% of their matches finishing with both teams on the scoresheet. In addition to this statistic, the corresponding fixture between the two sides last term finished 5-2 to the visitors which certainly sets some alarm belling ringing ahead of this Sunday’s clash. In fact, both of these sides finished last season as the second and third highest scorers in the division and six of the last eight meetings between them have also seen a BTTS result. Chalk this one down as another winner this weekend.
FC Luzern v FC Basel
The final choice this Sunday certainly looks the pick of the bunch as FC Luzern take on Basel in the Swiss Super League. Similarly, to above, we’re only two games into the season in Switzerland, but if last year is anything to go by, this league has the potential to be a goldmine for BTTS winners over the next nine months. Based on the 2015/16 statistics, every team in the division had an overall strike-rate over 50% for BTTS results, and this season is already shaping up in similar fashion with no side blanking in consecutive games so far in the BTTS market. Hosts Luzern have started the campaign fantastically well and have won both of their games so far via BTTS results and scoring six goals in the process. Champions Basel, have also won their opening two matches, scored eight goals and recorded one BTTS outcome as well. With all these facts in mind, stick this one down as the anchor leg.
