Well, well, well. After what has ultimately proven a rather captivating showcase of international football yet again this summer, Fernando Santos and his proud squad of Portuguese stars have finally achieved the unexpected and landed the first major tournament trophy for their nation in victorious circumstances.
Portugal may not have initially arrived as anyone’s out in out favourite to really go all the way at Euro 2016 – but since the unmistakably hard-working outfit were nonetheless able to see off the French without talisman Cristiano Ronaldo pulling the strings in last night’s final – no one can seemingly discredit the Portuguese now after finally claiming one of the grandest prizes of all upon the international scene.
Many have since congratulated the Portuguese after their impressive heroics in the final…
Everyone's money was on France, Germany, Spain even on Italy after their earlier performances. NOBODY gave Portugal ?? a chance. Well done ?

Really feel for France, they look heartbroken. Probably deserved it more overall, just not on the day. Certainly been a strange tournament
