Euro 2016 Winner Predictions and Betting Tips

Euro 2016 winner betting tips and predictions for who will win the tournament in France this summer including the best betting odds for our selection to win.

 

The excitement levels are at fever pitch for all football fans as the Euros are quickly approaching. Everyone has their own opinions on who will win the tournament and I’m going to discuss who I think will win, and some reasons why I’ve picked this team for my Euro 2016 winner prediction.

My Euro 2016 tip to win the tournament is France. This might seem the easy option to go for as they’re pre-tournament favourites but there’s clear reasons for this.

Hosts

France are hosting this summers’ competition, and in their history they’ve won the European Championships twice, and the World Cup once. Interestingly, they were hosts for World Cup 98, and Euro 84, so there’s a distinct improvement in the national side’s performances when they are the host nation.

 

Squad

If you take a look at all the other teams’ squads, you can pick weaknesses or flaws in the team which can be taken advantage of, and yet if you look at France’s squad, it’s so finely balanced and well thought out, that this side could really go the distance. I’ve seen a few grumbles regarding centre half role, and who will partner Laurent Koscielny in defence, but look at who will be there. Adil Rami, who’s just won the Europa League with Sevilla, Eliaquim Mangala, who in the latter months of the season for Manchester City improved a lot or the uncapped Samuel Umtiti, who’s one of the most sought after young defenders after having a sterling season for his club Lyon.

 

If the same people with concerns aren’t satisfied with the above, check out the midfield. Two of the best midfielders in the world have already guaranteed their place. Paul Pogba is the future of the French national side, and it feels like this tournament could be the one he stamps his mark one. Alongside Pogba is Blaise Matuidi, who must be one of the most underrated midfielders in Europe. The energy, passing and commitment he leaves on the pitch is second to none, and if Deschamps puts N’golo Kante alongside those two midfielders, you’ve got yourself the perfect shield for your defence, as well as the capabilities to join the forwards and contribute to goals.

The forward line has really started to look the business. Olivier Giroud has been a man possessed for France recently and is our Euro 2016 top goalscorer tip, and despite being booed in games in the past few months he’s notched four goals in his last four games for his country. I expect him to be the central striker. On his left will be Antoine Griezmann. This man has raised his game in each of his last four seasons for both Real Sociedad and now Atletico Madrid, 32 goals in 54 for games in all comps for his club this season shows he’s clinical in front of goal, and could almost be the perfect link up with Giroud as he can pick up the lay-offs. Finally there’s a choice for Didier Deschamps to make for the final attacking position. There’s Anthony Martial, Dimitri Payet or Kingsley Coman. I think Dimitri Payet just about shades it for me, as he has had an incredible season for West Ham United, also bagging a couple of free kicks for France, for me he deserves a starting place.

 

These are the reasons why France are my Euro 2016 outright betting tip, they have an excellent chance of winning the competition, and let’s be honest, It’s always better when the host nation stays in longer.
