Is Riyad Mahrez a worthy ‘PFA Player of the Year’?

After everything that has already taken place down at the King Power Stadium in 2015/16, it should ultimately come as little surprise that this year’s illustrious ‘Player of the Season’ award would seemingly fall upon a Leicester City star when all is said and done.

 

Whilst each of Jamie Vardy, N’Golo Kante, Wes Morgan and Danny Drinkwater also deserve their fair share of praise from the wider footballing community this season, Riyad Mahrez has clearly served to represent the standout winner within the grand scheme of things. The quick-footed Algerian international has simply been in scintillating form across the current domestic campaign after all…

 

Yet as football fans in this country tend to prove a rather argumentative bunch even at the best of times, we’ve decided to take a closer look at what a wide range of Premier League watchers have had to say about Riyad Mahrez’ recent accolade, and whether or not the current Foxes favourite really represents a worthy player of the season with all things fairly taken into account.

 

Well, as most Premier League players, managers, pundits and fans have seemingly been mentioning the name ‘Riyad Mahrez’ throughout the vast portion of the 2015/16 campaign thus far…

…the 25-year-old attacker admittedly felt like a worthy winner of the ultimate award long before the official PFA selection process first got underway…

Vardy should have won the PFA Player of the Year. What he achieved this season is much more important than what Mahrez did.
