Aston Villa vs Southampton betting tips and Premier League predictions for this weekend’s 3pm kick-off plus the best odds for each bet.
Southampton travel to Villa Park in the Premier League for Saturday afternoon’s 3pm kick off in the hope of piling more misery on the already relegated Aston Villa.
Aston Villa vs Southampton Predictions
A rather meaningless game for both sides this weekend where both teams will play for pride. Aston Villa have mathematically been relegated and the club’s problems are ever growing. Southampton are looking at a top half finish but Europe seems out of the question now.
Following last weekend’s defeat at Old Trafford Villa are officially a Championship side from next season and with more drama at the club this week around Agbonlahor, things are not looking bright for the club who have not picked up a point in the Premier League for over two months including nine consecutive defeats.
Southampton have been up and down this season and I think their biggest problem has been putting a win streak together for a long enough time. Despite only being beat once in the last six games, two draws and three wins has been slightly disappointing considering they slipped up at home against Sunderland and again last weekend at a currently poor Everton.

Despite not having as good a season as last year, Pelle has still reached double figures goals for the campaign after the strike at St Mary’s against Newcastle. Ten goals in 28 appearances could be slightly disappointing but there is still time to grab a few more before the end of the season and playing Villa could be a perfect opportunity.
My first Aston Villa vs Southampton betting tip is going to be Pelle to score first. As the central striker there’s a great chance he will be involved in the goals and the best price for this one is currently 9/2 with Bet365 which is definitely worth a punt.
PELLE TO SCORE FIRST – 9/2 with bet365.
Although I do expect Southampton to win, they are very shorts odd of 1/2 which isn’t brilliant value for an away side who are only playing for pride. So my next weekend football tip will add some extra value to that. A score and win seems a good bet as Southampton haven’t kept a clean sheet since the Swansea game back in February and although you might not fancy Villa to score, you’ve always got to give the home side a chance.
My second Premier League prediction for Aston Villa vs Southampton is going to be Southampton to win and both teams to score. I can’t look past a Southampton win and the Villa goal adds good value as you can get odds of 3/1 with William Hill.
SOUTHAMPTON TO WIN AND BTTS – 3/1 with William Hill.
Ashley Westwood has consistently been in the Villa side this season and has picked up six yellow cards in his 28 appearances. Quite a high rate for a central midfielder who seems to lose his head in the heavy defeats as he picked up booking in the 6-0 demolition from Liverpool and the 4-0 defeat against Chelsea. Dealing with the likes of Tadic and Mane could prove difficult for him.
Although calling a player to be carded isn’t the easiest and requires a bit of luck at times, I do fancy Westwood to be booked for my last football betting tip on this weekend’s Premier League match now that the season is completely over for Villa, some frustration and aggression could show if Southampton control the game.
WESTWOOD TO BE BOOKED – 4/1 with Paddy Power.
