Both Teams to Score Tips 12th April
Guiseley v Wrexham
The first selection for this week’s both teams to score tip is from the National League as Guiseley host Wrexham. The hosts head into the match in poor form and have not managed to pick up a single win in their last eleven games. However, they have recorded four high scoring BTTS draws in six of their last home games during this period. Opponents Wrexham are in pretty reasonable form at present and currently occupy 7th place in the league table. Nevertheless, their away record has been dreadful since the turn of the year and the Welsh side have only managed one win from their last nine matches on their travels. Based on the fact that the corresponding fixture earlier in the season finished a highly encouraging 3-3 draw, though, I’m going to plumb for this game to get the ball rolling.
Manchester City v PSG
Our second choice this Tuesday comes from the Champions League as PSG travel to the Etihad to take on Manchester City. Prices for this selection were trading as short as 8/15 with some bookmakers, so I’m pretty surprised to see it readily available on the Betfred Goals Galore bonus list. Obviously it doesn’t necessarily guarantee it’s going to be a winner, but certainly looks a decent shout following last week’s 2-2 draw in the Parc Des Princes. Manchester City head into the tie without captain Vincent Kompany, and fellow centre back Nicolas Otamendi is also struggling for fitness as well. This could mean that one, or both of Martin Demichellis and Eliaquim Mangala could be set to run amok at the back for the hosts. Against the likes of Ibrahimovic and Cavani, I don’t fancy their chances of keeping a clean sheet in this one. Nevertheless, City have plenty of attacking threat of their own and I would be very surprised if we don’t see both teams scoring here.
Notts County v Hartlepool
Our third pick is a League Two affair as Notts County host in-form Hartlepool at Meadow Lane. The hosts have finally started to pick up a few results over the last couple of weeks after a disastrous eight game run which only yielded a single point. County don’t have the best BTTS record in the division by any stretch of the imagination, but this ratio still sits at 55% and they manage to win the corresponding fixture against Tuesday’s opponents 3-2 only a matter of weeks ago. Hartlepool are right in the middle of a real purple patch in the league at the moment and have only lost once in their last nine matches. This run has now seen them reach as high as 16th in the table and completely dispel any relegation worries. Considering they were one of the favourites to go down around Christmas, this is quite an impressive turnaround. From our bet’s perspective, though, Hartlepool’s most recent result came in the form of a 5-2 victory away at Morecambe at the weekend, and they have also managed to score multiple goals away at the likes of Leyton Orient and Barnet over the last few weeks as well. Therefore, I think this match is worth taking a punt on for the next leg of our BTTS tip.
Hibernian v Falkirk
Our final choice comes from the Scottish Championship as Hibernian host Falkirk at Easter Road. Hibs’ title chances officially bit the dust over the weekend, but in truth, they perished a lot earlier than that. The hosts looked in terrific shape half way through February but have totally capitulated over the last couple of months and have even been overtaken in the table by their opponents this Tuesday. However, four of their last seven matches have seen a BTTS outcome and over 2.5 goals, so that certainly offers some encouragement in the BTTS market for our bet. Falkirk were the main reason behind this matches’ inclusion as The Bairns are currently the highest ranked team in the division for BTTS results at 58%, with this figure rising to 69% whilst away from home. Although these numbers don’t exactly guarantee this match as a shoe-in, Falkirk’s last five games in a row have seen both teams finding the net and Hibernian haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last seven matches as well. With all these facts in mind, there is more than enough to convince me to stick this one down as the anchor leg on the both teams to score accumulator.
