The England squad for Euro 2016 is set to be the most exciting for a major tournament in years but when does Roy Hodgson have to name his Euro 2016 squad by?
Roy Hodgson will be tackled with naming his 23-man squad for Euro 2016 by the end of May, however he plans to announce his squad earlier in May.
England Euro 2016 Squad Announcement – 12th May
The date for your diary is Thursday 12th May 2016 when we will find out Roy Hodgson’s England squad of 23 players for Euro 2016. Hodgson has until May 31st to submit his final squad but he says he plans on announcing the 23 names on 12th May.
There is still one more round of Premier League fixtures to follow the May 12th announcement as well as cup finals so injuries could mean there are late changes right up until the final deadline on Tuesday 31st May.
Following the England squad announcement on May 12th, the final round of Premier League fixtures will take place on Sunday 15th May before the FA Cup final and Champions League final six days later on Saturday May 28th.
Euro 2016 Final Squad Announcement – 31st May
The 31st May deadline comes three days after the FA Cup final and Hodgson will be praying there is no injuries between those times. Once this 31st May deadline has passed, only serious injuries or illness will allow the England manager to make any changes to his squad.
Pre-Euro 2016 Friendlies – 22nd May, 27th May, 2nd June
England have three Euro 2016 warm up friendlies between the end of the Premier League season and the start of Euro 2016 on June 10th. First they play Turkey on Sunday 22nd May in Manchester before Australia visit at the Stadium of Light on Friday 27th May.
The final England friendly before their Euro 2016 Group B opener against Russia takes place at Wembley against Portugal on Thursday 2nd June. This will be the final chance Hodgson gets to consider his starting 11 for the first match against Russia.
