It's safe to say that Arsenal fans would happily trade an early exit from the Champions League if it meant walking away from the season as Champions of England. However, the manner of their defeat to Pep Guardiola's cocksure Munich side will inevitably have allowed some of those famed Arsenal demons to creep into their subconscious. 

 

Jose Mourinho's labelling of Arsene Wenger as an 'expert in failure' was more than a jibe. It was playing on the mood of Arsenal as a club. It's been 11 years since the Gunners lifted the Premier League crown and any prolonged sense of entitlement has been quickly cast aside by a churlish longing for days gone by. 

 

Playing on your opponent's weakness has always worked in sport, and Spurs may well benefit from the battering handed out by Bayern Munich. 

 

Spurs also played midweek and had a far better outcome than Arsenal. Pochettino's side overcame Anderlecht 2-1 thanks to a superb last minute Moussa Dembele thunderbolt. 

 

Tottenham's performance was gritty but lacking in the kind of dominance that top sides need to achieve in Europe. However, the result was the most important thing on the night and the win has put them top of Group J and on the brink of qualification to the next phase. 

 

Spurs' League form has been consistent all season and they remain unbeaten since the opening day of the season when they were defeated 1-0 by an underwhelming Man United side at Old Trafford. Since then Tottenham have managed 5 wins and 5 draws, with the five victories coming in the last 7 games.  

 

Both sides are in fantastic goal scoring form, and given that nine out of the last eleven North London derbies have finished with both teams scoring, it's extremely likely that we will witness another high scorer on Sunday.
