They were outclassed by Man United and trounced by West Ham. They could only muster a draw against Norwich, and in midweek games, Liverpool have really excelled themselves. A pitiful League Cup draw with Carlisle where they only just scraped through on penalties, and most recently, on Thursday, a draw against unheard of Swiss side FC Sion.

Everton fans must be loving it. They’d love a win on Sunday even more though.

People talk of squad depth being the main factor in winning titles. For Liverpool to mount any sort of title challenge, they need to ship out 90% of this current squad. Brendan has shown that when he has decent players, his tactics work a charm. It’s just a shame for Liverpool fans that Anfield’s recruitment policy doesn’t match the manager’s ambition.

Everton may only be a point above Liverpool, but they have a goal difference of +4 as opposed to Liverpool’s pathetic -2. The Toffees have shown heart and determination this season, and if truth be told, they could inflict some serious Scouse pain on Liverpool this weekend and get us some good winning bets for the Merseyside derby.

After seeing Everton battle back to grab all three points against West Brom on Monday, and witnessing how poorly Liverpool played against FC Sion on Thursday, I think fans of Liverpool will be calling for Brendan’s head after this one.
