After a fantastic weekend of excitement and goals in the Premier League, it's now the turn of West Brom and Everton to continue that trend on Monday. Although excitement and goals seldom go hand in hand with Tony Pulis, the hosts do come into the match in decent form. The Baggies have picked up seven points from their last nine available and have yet to concede a goal during this period.
However, West Brom still remain winless at home so far this campaign, having only picked up a solitary point at The Hawthorns. Nevertheless, these two defeats both came at the hands of last season's top two, so it's perhaps unfair to look into their home form with too much scrutiny.
With three draws, two wins and a defeat – opponents Everton have had a real mixed bag of performances and results so far this term. However, The Toffees have had an incredibly tough opening set of fixtures with both Manchester City and Chelsea coming to Goodison Park, as well as tricky away ties at Southampton, Spurs and Swansea. With this in mind, Roberto Martinez's return of nine points is far more impressive than it first appears.
Heading into the match and there's little to choose between the two sides, with Everton slight favourites at a best price of 6/4. West Brom can be backed at odds of 11/5, with the draw on offer at 12/5.
Based on recent form, this is a really tough match to call for my football betting tips. West Brom have really steadied the ship in recent weeks and are an incredibly tough nut to crack at present. Furthermore, the head to head history between the two sides certainly points towards a tightly fought encounter. Out of the last ten meetings in all competitions, only two occasions have seen more than 2.5 goals – and these were both 2-1 results.
Decision time, and I'm going to stick my neck out and go for an Everton win in my match result prediction for West Brom. The Merseyside club have been pretty solid away from home this season and have yet to even concede a goal. Being the home side, West Brom will have to have a go at the visitors at some point and I can see them being caught out on the counter attack. Therefore, back Lukaku to score the first goal of the match at 11/2 with Ladbrokes. Should he do so in the first 25 minutes, those odds will double.
