Poland v Gibraltar – Poland to win

Similarly to last week, we’re going to stick a dead cert in at the start just to use up one of the selections and effectively make this accumulator a four fold. We will have to be pretty unlucky not to come away with at least a refund on this one. Once again, poor old Gibraltar are our stooge. Following their 4-0 to the Republic of Ireland, the Gibraltarians are still rooted firmly to the bottom of the table and now have a goal difference of -37. Barring an act of God or some element of match fixing, Poland will win this one.

 

Scotland v Germany – Germany to win

Following their drab 1-0 defeat away to Georgia last week, Scotland are facing a huge uphill task if they are to at least pinch a playoff berth for Euro 16. The Scots now have to beat the World Cup holders Germany on Monday to have any chance of catching third placed Republic of Ireland – who have a relatively comfortable home tie against Georgia. On paper, Scotland have some half-decent players and this game could be quite a tight affair. The problem is, all the hard work and endeavour can’t disguise the fact that Scotland have the cutting edge of a wooden spoon. At some point in the match they are going to have to go on the the attack, when they do, the Germans will tear them to pieces on the counter attack. Germany look good value for the three points here.

 

Republic of Ireland v Georgia – Republic of Ireland to win

As previously mentioned, the Irish have a fantastic opportunity to put some daylight between themselves and Scotland as they face off against Georgia at the Aviva Stadium. Martin O’Neil’s men are currently sat in third place having only lost one of their seven matches so far and also beat their Georgian opponents in the corresponding fixture 2-1. If they are at the races on Monday night, this should be a comfortable win.

 

Romania v Greece – Romania to win

This match might look like a close call upon first glance, but there are in fact thirteen points separating the two sides. Greece have been absolutely shambolic in this qualifying campaign. The former European champions have only managed to score two goals in seven matches and currently sit bottom of the table with two points. Romania are unbeaten so far in all their matches and have only conceded once in all those games, they are an incredibly tough nut to crack and I can’t see the Greeks getting much change out of them. Considering Greece are playing for nothing but pride and Romania are striving for automatic qualification, I can only see one winner here.

 

Northern Ireland v Hungary – Draw

Finally, we’re going to throw caution to the wind and go with the draw in our final selection. Both Northern Ireland and Hungary are both in with a chance of automatic qualification for Euro 16, Hungary have the easier remaining fixtures and the Irish have the luxury of a four point cushion. If you offered Michael O’ Neil a point now, he would snatch your hand off. Neither side are prolific scorers and I can see this being a low scoring draw.
