Manchester City v QPR betting tips and predictions for this weekend’s football from our expert tipster.
First up on 'Super Sunday' this weekend sees a struggling QPR side looking to pull off the unlikeliest of escapes as they travel to The Etihad to face Manchester City and we have three free football tips.
Man City v QPR Predictions 10th May
After losing four of their six matches since the start of March, Manchester City's slim title hopes went up in smoke, and the former champions were also faced with a real possibility of not qualifying for the Champions League. However, thanks to three wins on the trot – albeit unconvincing ones at that – and the woeful recent form of Liverpool and Manchester United, City have all but secured a top three finish.
Despite what seems to be an ultimately disappointing season, City's home form has generally remained strong throughout the campaign and Manuel Pelegrini's men are also the top scorers in the division with 71 goals. Although this is a far-cry from the three figure total from last year, star striker Sergio Aguero has appeared to have finally woken from his winter slumber and has scored five goals in his last four matches. With 28 goals in 39 appearances, no one can accuse the Argentine of not pulling his weight this season – the same cannot be said for a handful of his teammates.
Opponents QPR seem destined for the Championship after their unfortunate loss away to Liverpool last weekend. In a familiar scenario that encapsulates their season, The Hoops produced a lot hard work and endeavour – earning an equaliser and saving a penalty – only to throw it all away at the last minute. Steven Gerrard's 87th minute header was the 15th goal QPR have conceded in the last fifteen minutes of games, this is something that will cost them their Premier League status.
In order to avoid the drop QPR basically have to win their next three matches and hope teams around them drop points – Nigel Farage has a better chance of landing Prime Minister. Granted they've been shambolic on occasions, but it is a shame because Chris Ramsey never got a fair crack of the whip and has some decent players in his squad. The likes of Charlie Austin and Joey Barton – through gritted teeth – should be playing in the Premier League. Nevertheless, QPR have the worst away record in the Premier League, as well as the worst defence – they have not earned the right to stay in the top flight.
Even with QPR fighting for survival, I really don't give them much of a chance this weekend in my Man City v QPR predictions. Manchester City have won their last three matches on the bounce and will be desperate to secure a top three finish to avoid early Champions League qualification. Obviously the price of 1/4 doesn't offer much in the way of value but Manchester City to win and BTTS is available at 31/20 with Boyle Sports. Both teams are tied third in the league for matches with a BTTS outcome, and considering QPR have to go on the offensive, this bet should have a decent chance of success.
Our first Manchester City v QPR betting tip is for Man City to win and both teams to score at 31/20 with Boylesports.
Moving over to the goalscoring market for Man City v QPR and for two players I have touched on earlier in the article. Based on current form, Sergio Aguero is a must for the betting slip. As well as scoring in his last four matches, he has also scored the opening goal of the game as well.
Our next weekend football tip is to back Aguero to score first with William Hill at 5/2. Not the best odds on the world, but should be miss out and score the second of the match, you will earn yourself a refund.
Secondly, Charlie Austin is really well-priced in the anytime scorer market and is certainly worth a punt to get onto the scoresheet as well. Austin has 17 goals to his name this season and even scored in the corresponding fixture at Loftus Road earlier in the year.
At a terrific price of 4/1 with Betfred, our last Man City v QPR prediction is Austin to score in the 90 minutes.
