Champions League Winner Predictions and Betting Tips

Champions League predictions for who will win the 2015 tournament from our football tipster who has picked out his winner and final opponent.

We are down to the last 4 in the Champions League and, as you would expect, the upcoming ties provide us with some absolutely mouth-watering prospects. Newly crowned Italian champions Juventus face Real Madrid’s galacticos whilst runaway Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich travel to Catalonia to face La Liga leaders Barcelona. But, who out of these star studded line ups has the determination to go all the way this year?

Champions League 2015 Winner Predictions

Juventus

Serie A is certainly not as strong as it once was and this has been emphasised by the downfall of some once big European names like AC Milan and Inter. Juventus seem to be the only Italian giant to have a sound financial footing, and as such they have run away with the title once again. With few challengers domestically, progress in Europe would have been top of the list for The Old Lady; however, they finished second in their group behind Atletico Madrid and  only managed a paltry 7 goals from 6 games. Despite scraping through, they have battled to victories over some decent teams. They clinically dispatched Dortmund home and away, and then nullified Monaco in the Quarters, scraping thorough courtesy of a 1-0 home win in the home leg followed by a disciplined 0-0 draw in the return match. Whilst rarely prolific, Juve are workmanlike and efficient. They will prove a tough test for Real Madrid and with such a good defensive record, they could well spring a surprise. However, despite their undoubted quality, I still feel they are the weakest team left in the competition.

Real Madrid

Madrid stuttered at the start of their domestic season, but soon found some fine form and eased through their Champions League group, winning all 6 matches. Since then their domestic form has dipped again and they suffered costly defeats to Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga. Real are certainly not performing at the same level as last year, but their recent display against their City rivals in the Champions League quarter final was top notch. Simeone has had the better of Real for a long time, but they showed immense resolve and a massive amount of character to overcome an Atletico side that gave them no time or space to play. This performance really impressed me, and was in stark contrast to the debacle witnessed against Schalke when they almost let a 2 goal lead slip away. Karim Benzema is a doubt for the first leg against Juve, but Chicarito has stepped up and proved exactly why he deserves a place in the team. Paul Pogba is injured for Juve and this will be a big blow to their chances of qualification. I expect Real Madrid to progress from this tie.

Bayern Munich

Bayern winning the Bundesliga has been a foregone conclusion for the last few years and they duly delivered another title with several games remaining. They have by far the most resources and the best squad in Germany, and in European competition they are once again a major force. Despite their domestic dominance, injuries have plagued their season and they have missed key players for long periods of the campaign. So much so that their club doctor resigned after being ‘blamed’ by Guardiola for the defeat against Porto. Nonetheless, their home form in Europe has been remarkable and they have recorded a 7-0 victory over Shakhtar and a 6-1 win against Porto in the previous rounds. However, their away form has been patchy and will be a worry ahead of the trip to the Nou Camp. Shakhtar and Porto are decent sides, but they are nowhere near the standard of Barcelona. Bayern will do extremely well to get through this tie with many key players missing; Robben, Alaba and Badstuber are definetly out, whilst Ribery and Lewandowski are major doubts. It is going to take a real effort for Pep to enjoy a winning return to his former stamping ground.

Barcelona

Luis Enrique’s men have played some of the most attractive football I've seen since Guardiola himself was in charge. In recent games Lionel Messi has been out of  this world. Ridiculously good. He literally ran rings around Man City, and in a game with world class stars all over the place, Messi was so obviously the best player. Barcelona blew PSG away in the Quarters and a 5-1 aggregate score was no less than they deserved. Their squad is just frightening, and an attack consisting of Messi, Neymar and Suarez is without doubt the strongest front line I have ever seen. Their midfield is settled and full of quality, and their defence, whilst being their weakest area, is still pretty decent! I honestly believe that if they stick with Luis Enrique in charge, and Messi continues his astounding displays, Barca will go all the way in the Champions League this season and establish themselves as the leading team in Europe once again. Despite the quality of the opposition, Barcelona have the extra swagger and nous needed to walk away as European Champions this season.
