Since the first few games of the season it was perfectly clear that Chelsea were the team to beat this year, and but for a brief flirtation with Manchester City at Christmas, the title never seemed destined for anywhere else. Jose Mourinho's men have finished the last third of the season with ruthless efficiency and currently find themselves on a fourteen match unbeaten run. It is clear they have been the most consistent team this year and deserve to win the league.

Nevertheless, The Blues have been made to work hard in recent weeks with seven of their last eight victories coming by way of a single goal margin – their only more significant win was the flattering 3-1 victory in midweek against Leicester City. Furthermore, this was only the second time in twelve matches that Chelsea had managed to score three goals in match. It hasn't always been pretty to watch and Mourinho's 'game management' is absolutely horrendous at times – It's fortunate Ramires scored the third on Wednesday night otherwise Nigel Pearson may well have given him a kicking – who cares, though, it wins football matches and it's going to win Chelsea the league.

Crystal Palace head to Stamford Bridge safely perched in mid-table. An excellent run of five wins in six saw The Eagles pushing for a top ten finish, but two uncharacteristic defeats have certainly put the breaks on what was a terrific late season rally. They now face a very tricky trio of fixtures against Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, so it is unlikely that they should finish any higher than the twelfth place they currently occupy.
