Tonight’s Europa League Accumulator Tips
Tottenham to beat Fiorentina – 6/5
Tottenham have emerged as one of the favourites for the Europa League this season, and with the winners of the competition automatically qualifying for the next Champions League campaign, they will not be taking it lightly. Mauricio Pochettino has got his side playing well and some impressive performances in recent weeks has them competing for a top four spot once again. They have won their last three in the Premier League, including wins over Arsenal and Chelsea, showing they can compete with anyone at White Hart Lane. And so a victory over a decent Serie A side in Fiorentina should be well within their capabilities. The visitors find themselves fourth in the league at present, and are unbeaten since early January. Although they qualified comfortably from the group stages, this tie represents a real jump in class from the sides they faced earlier on, and they will need to be at their best to make it through in what appears and fairly even tie. However with the incentive on Spurs to take the game to the visitors in order to take an advantage back to Florence, they are the selection to continue their impressive home form and sneak another victory.
Liverpool to beat Besiktas – 8/13
Liverpool would have disappointed with their efforts in the Champions League this season after failing to qualify from the group stages, however will feel positive of their chances in this competition which could offer them a way back into the European Cup next season. They have recovered from an inconsistent start to the season, and are unbeaten since December in the Premier League, as well as progressing to the last eight of the FA Cup. Difficult to beat at Anfield, realistically they should prove too strong for a Besiktas side who tend to struggle on their trips to England. Having lost out to both Spurs and Arsenal already this season, their aim will be to ensure they remain in the tie for the second leg. Liverpool meanwhile will be determined to take a lead back to Turkey, and should have enough to do so.
Wolfsburg to beat Sporting Lisbon – 4/6
German outfit Wolfsburg have been in tremendous form of late and are unbeaten since November. They are yet to lose at home in the Bundesliga, with nine wins from 11, including a superb 4-1 thrashing of Bayern Munich. Having scored five times at Leverkusen in their previous outing, they will be full of confidence, and will feel this competition offers them a genuine chance of European success. However up against a strong outfit in Sporting Lisbon, they will know a positive result in the first leg will be important in their bid to progress. Lisbon, bowed out of the Champions League at the back end of last year, and are also on a long unbeaten run back in Portugal where the sit third in the table. They narrowly lost out to Schalke on their last trip to Germany, and a repeat could well be on the cards as Wolfsburg look to take a lead back to Portugal for the second leg.
Inter Milan to beat Celtic – 11/8
Italian giants Inter Milan will no doubt have prioritised the Europa League, which seems to offer their best shot at making a return to the Champions League as they sit 10 points of the top three in Serie A. Two comfortable wins in the league have steadied the ship after a couple of disappointing defeats, and they appear decent value to inflict another European defeat at home for a Celtic side who have struggled on their own patch in both the Europa League and Champions League this season. Celtic failed to make it into the Champions League, despite having two attempts to do so, losing home times against both Legia Warsaw and Maribor. And despite qualifying from the group stages of this competition, they were also comprehensively beaten at home to Red Bull Salzburg, highlighting their inability to perform against the better sides. On paper, Inter posses the far superior squad, which they strengthened further in January with some impressive signings. The Italians are expected to progress in this tie, and a first leg victory will ease much of the pressure going into the return leg at the San Siro. And given the pedigree of the two sides, they look a good bet to do so.
