Manchester United to beat Southampton – 3/4

Two of the Premier League’s top four go head to head at Old Trafford this weekend in an intriguing clash as Man United host surprise package Southampton. Despite a number of injury problems, the Red Devils will be happy with their first part of the season, and will looking to continue a fine run of form and make it back into Europe’s elite competition. Sevilla to beat Almeria – 19/20

Following the La Liga Winter break, Sevilla will looking to pick up where they left off last year, in their bid for Champions League qualification when they travel to Almeria this weekend. Athletic Bilbao to beat Elche – 1/2

Bilbao have struggled for consistency this season, after their impressive campaign last year saw them qualify for the Champions League. They face an uphill task this term to qualify for Europe, and are currently in twelfth place having picked up just 19 points so far. Without a win in four, they will be keen to end this bad run, and have a great opportunity to do so when they host bottom side Elche this weekend. With just five points on the road this campaign, and without a goal in their last three away fixtures, this fixture presents a good chance for Bilbao to get back to winning ways in La Liga, and so the home side are the selection to pick up the three points. 

 

Lyon to beat Toulouse – 8/13

It comes as somewhat of a surprise that half way through the Ligue 1 season there three genuine title contenders, with giants PSG down in third place. Lyon are one of the sides battling for the championship after an impressive start to the season, and currently occupy second spot, two points off Marseille, after a fine run of form. With four straight victories, including an emphatic 5-0 victory away at Bordeaux before the Christmas break, they will be confident of adding to this run when they host Toulouse. Lyon hold the best home record in the division, with nine wins from 10 and just one defeat, and only five goals conceded; statistics that pose a difficult task for the visitors who have struggled so far this season. Down in 14th position, they find themselves just two points above the relegation places and without a win in their last three games. They have already lost seven games on the road this term, mustering only nine goals on their travels. Given Lyon’s imperious form at home, it’s difficult to see the visitors posing much of a threat this weekend. 

 

Nantes to beat Metz – 4/5

Nantes will be looking to maintain their push for a European place when they welcome relegation threatened Metz this weekend. The home side sit in seventh position in Ligue 1, just two points off a Europa League spot. They come into this clash in decent form having won their last two games, and only narrowly lost to last year’s champions PSG prior to those victories. In fact their last four games have seen them involved in a 2-1 scoreline. Metz however, are on a dreadful run of form, and are without a win since the opening day of November. They currently sit just above the bottom three on goal difference having lost their last three, and boast the worst away record in the division with just one win from 10, including eight defeats. Having managed just three goals on the road all season, it’s hard to look beyond a home win once again, making Nantes the selection.
